How to see amino acid data and activate food tracking

Updated over 5 months ago

Short answer: To see amino acid data, set up a profile for the individual with the metabolic condition and specify their diet tracking method & tolerance.

Longer answer: In the flok app, everyone has their own profile. You may be a caregiver, an individual with a metabolic condition, both, or an ally. Everyone has a profile, but not everyone (e.g. young children) has their own account with an email address and password. This structure allows for caregivers to manage others' profiles while they are young, and then transition them to shared or self-management when they are ready.

When you first set up your account, if you don't have a metabolic condition you're either a caregiver or an ally. If you do have a metabolic condition, you indicate that. In both cases your profile is automatically created.

For caregivers, the next step is to set up a profile for the person you care for who has a metabolic condition. See below.

If you have a metabolic condition:

  • Choose YES when you're asked during setup if you have PKU, MSUD, or another condition in the flok

  • After you've set up your profile, go to Manage Profiles and set up food tracking. You can then see the relevant amino acids for your profile along with unrounded protein, calories, etc.

If you are a caregiver:

  • Set up your own profile and then go to Manage Profiles and select Add Profile. Set up a profile for the individual you care for, specify food tracking (method, daily goal etc) and add that profile to the flok. When you operate as that individual within the app, you'll be able to see the amino acids relevant to their condition (although

  • After you add the profile, you'll have the option to invite that individual to their own profile - this means they need their own device and an email address. If you don't do this now, you can go back and do it at any time.

  • After adding the profile, you're automatically switched into that profile and can operate as that profile (most often a child) throughout the app. You do not need to switch back to your own profile unless you'd like to record information about your own health.
