Clinician Quick-Start Guide

MD, RN, RD, Clinician profiles

Updated yesterday

Clinicians are a vital part of care for our metabolic community, and flok is here to make partnering with your patients easier. We’re developing clinician-specific accounts with auto-generated demo profiles so you can easily showcase the flok app features with your patients. Until these are available, are available, dietitians can use the app effectively by creating “ally” accounts and manually adding demo profiles for the conditions they serve. Follow the steps below to set up your account and create condition-specific demo profiles.

Download this flyer for more details on how the flok app helps you partner with your patients to coordinate care.

Step 1: Create a flok App Account as an Ally
1. Download the flok app on your mobile device from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Sign up with your name and email address.

Select one flok (condition) to start with. This profile won’t have diet tracking features enabled as an Ally, so which condition you choose isn’t particularly important.
3. When prompted to choose your role, select “Ally” to indicate you are a caregiver or supporter, such as a clinician.
4. Complete your account setup by filling in your basic profile information.

Step 2: Add Demo Profiles for Each Condition You Serve
1. Tap the bird icon in the top left corner of your home screen.
2. Select “Manage Profiles.”
3. Tap “Add New Profile.”
4. In the new profile setup:
• Name the profile something like “MSUD Demo” or “PKU Demo” for easy identification.
• Select a condition

• Enter details like gender and date of birth

• Set a protein tolerance that reflects typical care for the selected condition.

Tip: You can create multiple demo profiles to match different conditions and use cases — one for each condition you serve.

Step 3: Switch Between Profiles Easily
1. Whenever you’re ready to demonstrate the app:
• Tap the bird icon again.
• Choose “Switch Profile.”
• Select the demo profile (e.g., “MSUD Demo”) that matches the condition you are discussing with a family or patient.
2. The app will now reflect settings and features relevant to that condition — including amino acid values, medications, etc.
